WHO WE ARE
The Town of Shandaken Housing Smart Task Force is envisioned as a community-led housing working group that will help municipal staff and local elected/appointed officials (e.g., Town Board, Planning Board) to implement the set of Housing Smart Actions included in the Ulster County Housing Smart Communities Initiative. The Task Force should include a wide variety of residents that can provide expertise (e.g., community outreach/engagement, construction trades, planning/design) and backgrounds/experience (e.g., age, race, gender, people with disabilities).
GOALS
The Task Force will work collaboratively with community partners to achieve the
following goals:
- Gather information and data regarding key housing data in the Town of Shandaken.
- Educate residents about the housing crisis and its impacts on the Town of Shandaken
- Create a Housing Action Plan or similar document, which includes a prioritized list of Housing Smart Actions and other strategies for implementation.
4.Implement the prioritized list of Housing Smart Actions. Track implementation
progress and update the list of actions annually.
