Responsibilities: Liaison to County Services. The director helps in navigating the county offices to get services to families and individuals.

The following services are provided by Ulster County, SHARP, area Churches, generous volunteers and donations:

The Senior Lunch Program is available for seniors from Noon to 1 PM, Monday through Friday except holidays in the meeting hall of the United Methodist Church on Church Street. Donations help pay for the lunches, heating and utilities. Volunteers are welcome; stop by to see what help is needed. Please make donations to: Shandaken Area Lunch Program, c/o Amy Wright, 1069 Old Rte. 28, Phoenicia 12464 or direct deposit at Ulster Savings bank in Phoenicia.

Formerly Yours Thrift Store is located in the basement of the United Methodist Church on Church Street. Accepting donations of clothing, toys, kitchen items or just about anything you can carry, including monetary donations. Shopping at the Thrift Store aids the the Methodist Church with their endeavors to help others. Open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9AM to 2PM. Contact Ruth Houska 688-7133 to see what help is needed.

The Food Pantry is open Thursdays from 10AM to Noon in the meeting hall of the United Methodist Church on Church Street. To donate: drop off canned, dry or non-perishable food at the Church.  Monetary donations are welcome.

The Phoenicia and Shandaken Firehouses have clothing drop-off-boxes in their parking areas.

 

Transportation Services: Once a week subsidized transportation (UCAT) is available for shopping. Medical transportation is available by appointment on Monday through Friday. Call 340-3333 for information.

The Zen Mountain Monastery holds an annual Holiday dinner in early December, of each year, serving over one hundred dinners. Music and gift giving are part of the festivities. Donations of food and gifts are welcome. Call 688- 2228 to see what help is needed.
