Responsible for adopting Local Laws, makes appointments to other boards and committees, manages municipal employment policies and is responsible for the town budget and financial matters.
Town Board and Supervisor
Town Clerk / Tax Collector / Records Management Officer/Registrar
Responsible for recording the business of Town government and also serves as a repository for a wide variety of Town documents. In Shandaken, also the Tax Collector and the Registrar of Vital Statistics. Marriage License, Death Certificates, Birth Certificates, Dog Licenses, Peddler Permits, FOIL Requests, Park Reservations, Genealogy Requests, Handicap Parking Permits, Burning Permits, Hunting – Fishing Licenses.
Assessor
Responsible for the determining the value of properties for the assessment of property tax and administers subsidy programs, such as the Star Exemption and other programs.
Highway Department
Maintains all town roads and bridges.The Highway Department is administered by the Highway Superintendent, who is an elected official, and is responsible for highway budgets and operations.
Justice Court
Vehicle and Traffic Violations, Small Claims Court, Orders of Protection, Weddings.
Building Inspector / Zoning and Code Enforcement
Permits are required for: All things structural, extension of plumbing & electric, signs.
Planning Board
Determinations on minor and major sub-divisions, site plans, special use permits.
Zoning Board of Appeals
Variances and appeals.
Parks & Recreation Board
The parks and recreation board helps preserve, promote, maintain and expand the recreational offerings of the town of Shandaken. Board Meetings are 2nd Monday of every month at the Town Hall, Rt. 28 Shandaken NY. 6:30 pm
Social Services
The director is the Ulster County liaison who helps in getting services to individuals and families. List of additional area services and charitable organizations that accept donations and volunteers inspired to help others

Determinations on conflicts of interest.
Dog Control and Adoption
Dog Control, Shelter & Adoption. Volunteer to walk dogs.
Recycling Center
Recycle -paper, cans, glass, metal, cardboard

Committees

DMV Bus
Starting October 15th, 2010, the Ulster County DMV bus will be at Town Hall every 1st, 3rd and 5th (if applicable) Friday of every month.
