Following two major floods in the Hamlet of Phoenicia during the fall of 2010, the Town of Shandaken formed the Shandaken Area Flood Assessment and Remediation Initiative (SAFARI) Group. This group is comprised of local elected officials and Ashokan watershed stakeholders who will be continuing to try and find ways to assist residents in avoiding and identifying possible flooding threats within the Ashokan Watershed within the Town of Shandaken. One of our first projects, is a planned channel modification to the Stony Clove Creek in Phoenicia due to begin shortly. The second effort entails hiring a Flood Mitigation Consultant to assist the Town in a variety of fields addressing flooding and helping to reduce flood insurance rates for the Town residents and provide a report to guide the Town over the coming years.
If you are interested and wish to have your firm considered, please read the Request for Qualifications form below and send the appropriate materials to the Town Clrek’s Office no later than 3pm on Monday, August 29, 2011. If you have any questions, please fell free to contact Town Supervisor Rob Stanley at (845) 688-7165.
